Historical perspective

A week ago, if Obama had come been less than three percent behind Clinton in New Hampshire, that would have been the story.

I think it's terrific that you went to NH to help out. Thank you for doing that. I agree that the result is a good one for Obama. I actually think that Clinton put herself into first place with her performance at the NH debate, as she came across as competent and presidential.

At some point, we have to confront the reality that we lost Democratic control of Congress under Bill Clinton. It got lost, and it stayed lost, despite Bill Clinton's charisma and communication skills.

The reason? I think that scandals had a lot to do with it. While I agree with Hillary Clinton that she was the victim of a vast right wing conspiracy, I also believe that she contributed to the bad press which (usually undeservably) was generated during Clinton administration. She was a polarizing figure.

I think Democrats should confront this fact, and think about how, or whether attacks based on this history can be confronted in the general election. On the other hand, hasn't Hillary Clinton's service in the Senate been somewhat scandal-free?
