Class Tells

Christopher Shays, one of the leading "moderate" Republicans, has been hit hard by the Foley scandal (PageGate). And he's in a tough race for reelection. Apparently, the pressure is getting to him. Attempting to defend Speaker Dennis Hastert after attacks by Ted Kennedy who was campaigning for Shays' opponent, Diane Farrell, the Congressman came up with this one, according to The Hartford Courant.

"I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day."

Classy guy.

And remember, he's one of the BETTER Republicans. Imagine what the real yahoos would say.
