The Rev. Wright unmasked

Bill Moyers interviewed the Rev. Jeremiah Wright tonight; the interview was taped after North Carolina Republicans announced that they would broadcast a commercial using carefully-edited clips of the Reverend to attack the Democratic candidates for governor of that state. (Both of the candidates have endorsed Obama, so as Keith Olbermann put it, this is a case of guilt by association by association.)

Rev. Wright comes across as a very different person than the caricature portrayed by the Republicans and most of the media. He was quiet, thoughtful, well-read and intelligent. He explained his philosophy well. Moyers played longer clips of his more notorious sermons than you've seen on other outlets, which revealed the way in which his words have been twisted for political purposes.

Unfortunately, only a small slice of the American people will see this interview. If you didn't, go here and take a look. It will be well worth your time.

You're right about Reverend Wright. Hillary and the Republican put a spin in his words, and clueless people believed in their lies. Those kind of people deserved the government officials that they elected. Unfortunately I have to share the same country with those fools.

I saw the piece on Moyers show. I also agree Wright was taken out of context.

You and your commenters are giving Wright too much credit. He has exposed himself as a narccissist in need of recognition at the level of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

If Barack actually becomes known and thought of as a healer of racial conflict,as he has tried his best to portray himself, Jackson,Sharpton and the wannabee Wright, will have lost the stage which they counted on and needed to justify their message, and by extension, their own meaning in life, what they erroneousely had thought of as the justification for their personal existence.

It's no wonder that Wright is exhibiting retaliatory behavior against Barack. That's what it is however much he denies it and tries to deflect it from himself and on to the "Black" church.

I might do the same if faced with and confronted by opposition which essentially is targeted at most everything on which I've based my public life, reputation and, however deluded, meaning of my life.
