Three weeks from now, at noon on January 20th, Barack Obama will become President. (Under the Twentieth Amendment, it is the clock, not the oath of office, and makes a President.)
Is it just me, or do the days seem to be crawling by?

You're not alone. We haven't had a president for several weeks now.
Bush has revealed his deep seated adult child immaturity since the November election. He just quit without telling anyone. Barack has said we only have one president at a time, but he's been overstating the count, to paraphrase the estimable Barney Frank.
I'm sore afraid that Barack will be expected to be "The One", the Messiah, and that his every word will be preceeded by ethereal music as it was of old in the radio program of the mid 1900's called The Greatest Story Ever Told.
I'm not much given to religious practices but I'm going to pray to some higher power, some source of strength to undergird and sustain him.
Jesus is reported to have said that the spirit of God is within us. I wonder if one can really dig down that deep and find such a strength as to feel that its source is almost outside of oneself.
I'm one of the excited ones and I need to manage my expectations.

Bob Herbert was wonderful today (what's new?) on the way that W has checked out.
In my post on Bob Herbert's column I described it as a fine summation by a prosecuting attorney to a jury, us, in a trial of Bush for crimes against humanity and violations of his oath of office to uphold the Constitution.
